WHY CHOOSE HENPEC
Welcome Henpec Farm | Promise of Taste
Does the chicken I buy have antibiotic residue in it?
All the chicken we purchase is actually “antibiotic-free” – that is, there are no antibiotic residues left in the chicken meat. This is because there are federal regulations that require farmers to follow “withdrawal times” to ensure that any antibiotics given to the animal have cleared the animals’ system before they leave the farm and enter the food chain.
It is critical for us to ensure the safety and quality of the chicken we purchase, and one of the pillars of this commitment is the labelling of our chicken as “antibiotic-free.” This classification, in essence, emphasises the lack of any remaining antibiotic residues in the chicken meat we source. This critical assurance is backed up by tough federal rules that strictly regulate the use of antibiotics in poultry raising.
From a consumer standpoint, the labelling of chicken as “antibiotic-free” demonstrates farmers’ conscious efforts to ensure the safety and integrity of the food supply. The confidence established by this label is a direct outcome of the agricultural community’s engagement with regulatory organisations to maintain the highest standards in poultry production.
In essence, the “antibiotic-free” label reflects a holistic strategy that prioritises animal welfare, ethical farming techniques, and the supply of safe and high-quality chicken products to customers. As we traverse the complexities of contemporary poultry farming, it is critical to recognise and value the joint efforts that make this certification more than a label—it is a symbol of a collective commitment to quality and accountability in the food supply chain.
